US Naval Air StationPort Lyautey, Morocco
Jim Touhey served in the Navy between 1949 till 1953 as a hospital corpsman achieving HM2. While in Port Lyautey, he was assigned to VR-24. When discharged he returned to his hometown of Milford Massachusetts. He joined the family business (Touhey Liquors) until he retired and sold the business in 1997. While living in Milford, he joined the Milford Fire Department in 1955 as a call Firefighter and retired in 1997. He was married in 1956 and he and his wife have 3 children, (2 boys and 1 girl). His sons are both firefighters, one is the Chief and the other is the Deputy Chief of the Milford Fire Department. His daughter is affiliated with IFAW as Manager of the marine mammal rescue team. Since retiring, he and his wife live in Mattapoisett, Ma. a small town on the shores of Buzzards Bay. Following are some photographs he took during his Port Lyautey service.
